Should I STILL Be This Tired?

Just needing to hear back from some others. I am 4 Months post op and find that I still get pretty tired - like wiped out kind of tired.
Is this normal? I assumed I would have more energy by now.

Re: Should I STILL Be This Tired?

Have you had any testing done recently to identify whether it may be a thyroid issue or hormone issue?

Re: Should I STILL Be This Tired?

Whenever anyone asks about tiredness there is usually an answer form a hostess saying it takes 6 months up to a year before we are fully healed, and yes, it is different for all of us. If you worry, it is always wise to check with your doctor, but at 4 months it seems that you still have some time within the 'normal' range in which you can be tired.

Re: Should I STILL Be This Tired?

courageous1 -- i'm about as far post-op as you, and i still get tired out easily. i keep going all day long, somehow, but am not nearly as effective as pre-op. seems like i have little stamina, and need a long recovery time when i finish an activity. (case in point, i am sitting in bed perusing hystersisters.com after having been out for the afternoon, too tired to get busy with anything else just yet.)

i have three books on order about balancing thyroid, adrenal and reproductive hormones. i am hoping that i read some info that helps me target how to get my energy back.

i am also gaining weight steadily and feeling low a lot more than pre-op. i have both my ovaries.

hmmm. sorry this probably isn't helpful, but you know you're not alone. here's to hoping we get some solid direction in days to come!

Re: Should I STILL Be This Tired?

almost 3 months here and I still tire out so easy!

I keep being told by others that it really does take a good 6 months to feel "normal" and a full year to really feel good again for some. I am trying to be patient with myself, but it is so hard!

Re: Should I STILL Be This Tired?

Thanks for all of the responses ladies. It takes away some of the worry.

Most days I try to deny the tiredness and keep going without taking a nap - telling myself that I couldn't possibly be tired.... So frustrating!

Today, I finally decided to give in and I am just waking up from a nap. I guess I need to be patient with myself and give my body the time it needs to continue healing.

Re: Should I STILL Be This Tired?

I had my 6 week check up last week, so gong on 7 this week. My doctor wrote a note for work that I will experience fatigue for the next 6 weeks that may require me to lighten my workload or hours. So, that makes me realize that it'll still be normal to be fatigued even beyond that, but probably not to the point of needing to reduce me hours, just choose my activities wisely. I was out and about all day yesterday. Today, all I did was go to church this morning, and been home resting all day.

Re: Should I STILL Be This Tired?

I am still tired and gaining weight as well! This is really not fun. I think the exhaustion after getting home from work, so I cook supper and crash for the evening, thus not really moving around as much as a person should be so I am gaining weight. I also have hypothyroidism but am on meds for that. I think I am going to go in and get my levels checked though as this is getting crazy. I still get some twinges if I do to much so thinking I will be glad to see the 6 month anniversary arrive!!!
But on the flip side, no more pelvic pain and pressure on my bladder and bowels. No more periods! It could be a lot worse ladies and we know there is a end in sight!
