TLH w/bilateral Salpingectomy
Hi there!
When I had my LSH/BSO, I also had a lot of pain on the left side when I would try to get up and down. It was rather painful and bothersome for about 4 weeks. When I saw my doctor and asked about it, he said that was the side that he removed all the organs on. So, I guess the laprascopic tool on that side bruised the tissues and muscles more than the others.
Tips that worked for me:
I slept in the recliner for those first 4 weeks, and I also used one of those disposable bed protectors to sit on for the first few days. It made sliding back and forth on the chair easier - my clothes would hang and it would require more effort to move without it. Also, I found having help to get up and down for those first days very helpful. My hubby would hold my left hand and let my pull towards the right as I got up (diagonal vs pulling straight out from the body). Made a difference in not increasing the pain on that left side.
If you are sleeping on your bed, be sure your roll over on your side and push up with your arm - instead of using your trunk muscles to sit up. Also, maybe sleep on the right side of the bed so that you are rolling over on your right side and pushing up with your right arm.
But if your pain gets worse or you aren't sure about the cause/source - call your doctor and ask! Take it easy and rest! Lots of water to keep from getting dehydrated as well!
