When were you able to have a drink after your surgery?


After the long and trying day I had with my children I sure could use a drink right about now.

Once I got off my prescribed narcotic pain medications, I didn't have any alcohol-intake restrictions. If you are uncertain about your physician's instructions in this regard, it would be best if you checked with your medical provider.

Thanks for the reply!! I am not on any Narcotic pain meds anymore! I will still probably call my doctor.

Once off the narcotic's a glass of wine probably wont hurt you, but yes, see what the doctor says.

I had my TAH 2-10. I am off pain meds now although I still have a lot of belly soreness that is tolertable. Yesterday was my first day out and we went to dinner (early) and I had 2, yes 2 glasses of red wine for the first time. I figured it was Mardi Gras and I have been missing my wine. Now off to Ash Wednesday Mass for my 2nd big outing.

I look forward to a glass of wine in the eve and had no restrictions after getting off pain meds! Cheers!
