I have a date :0)
Well, I began my journey on May 3rd. It was the longest week-end of my life and I could not wait for today knowing that the Dr.'s office would call with a date and I thought it would be a month or two wait. It is not...I go in on May 23rd @ 10:30a.m.
I can not wait. I am so anxious and this will be the longest 16 days of my life. For the first time in my life I will be wishing the time away.
Thank you all for your help and support and believe me, I will be back to this website all the time.
They all said 26 was to young! But, cancer does not discriminate. Thank you once again and good luck to all of you.

Counting down
beme,
I know the relief of finally getting a date. Originally, I was going to get a call the day after my gyn said I needed the surgery. I waited and waited. I finally called and the only girl who does the scheduling was gone for the day, but I got a promise that she would call me on her next day in (in about four days). Again, I waited and waited and finally called. Again she was gone for the day. At least this time they looked at my record and said my surgery would be in May (not April, which I had hoped for). I called first thing in the a.m. the next day and after playing phone tag a few times, finally got my date.
My gyn said not to wait more than six weeks to schedule and my surgery date is actually eight weeks from then, but since I'm not in constant pain, I feel I can wait.
I still had a long time to wait after getting my date. You are lucky that you don't have that long. I don't have much longer now, either. I'm going in the day after you! First thing in the a.m.--6 a.m. show time and 7:30 surgery.
Happy waiting!
Nancy

Hi Beme
Please change your surgery date in your profile as we want to make sure to have enough brownies and tea on the post-op side!
I know the feeling of the finality of getting a date...I only had 7 days to prepare though! The waiting really is the worst part!
Have you been to the cancer concerns board?? https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/for...p?s=&forumid=6 Here's the link, just in case you need it.

True sisters!
I am so happy that you finally got a date. Now you can start planning things. There are two other sisters besides myself who have 5/23 dates. They are Lisa and Deb. I am scheduled for 7:30 AM We're here if you need to talk!
Take care.

Hi, Beme! I see from your other post that you are going to have both ovaries removed, but the cancer you have is only Stage 0 of the cervix. Did your dr think you needed ovaries removed because of that? Most women have no fast spreading of cancer from the cervix, so that is something to reconsider, since you are so very young. Many women have great difficulty finding just the right HRT that makes them feel good, especially the younger they are. And now with the latest research studies, some drs do not recommend taking HRT for more than 5 years. (It is a little depressing that we may not be able to take HRT for a long as we would like!) Talk with your dr again about the possibility of keeping one or both ovaries, so that you could still be able to produce natural estrogen and progesterone. Also, I second Sara's suggestion to post on Cancer Concerns about any other treatments that might work for cervical cancer, and possibly avoid a hyst altogether. Cervical cancer is such a slow-growing cancer that scraping away those cancerous cells may completely solve that. If I was you, I would get one more opinion from another dr before going through with a hyst, which is non-reversible, and be very sure this is the best option for you. s and best wishes!

Hi Beme
Welcome to the May Flowers! I too am having surgery on May 23, a TAH. What time is your surgery scheduled? Mine is at 10:30 a.m.
Your profile shows a March 23 date, rather than May 23. Is that an error? We want to make sure you show up on the calander list when the ladies wish us well and send us off to the castle in style!
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as we approach our special day!
s to you!
Lisa

Sorry to be missing in action the last little while. I have been without internet. I just wanted to thank all of you for the support. My surgery is scheduled for 12:30p.m. and I will be thinking of all the sisters that I have met on this website the whole time, wishing all of you well. I have changed my profile to show May 23, 2002. To answer Ruthie, both ovaries are being removed because I constantly have cysts on them that burst and I chose to have them removed instead of having the pain of the cycle of the cysts. The biopsy reports came back from my colposcopy and some of the tissue showed more malignancy this time. The Dr. was surprised by this because it usually takes so long for this type of cancer to change. So, needless to say I am very anxious for the procedure to be done. Good luck to Lisa, Deb, and Tracy on their journey. Again, thank you for all the advice and support.

Mine does not start till 12:30pm so I will be up all night and then stress about everything until I have to leave @ 10:15. I even thought about going to work for a few hours that day. By the time I do in you will be done and sleeping like a baby. I will be thinking of you. Good luck to you also.
I can not wait.

i know how it feels to be anxiously counting down the days too. I can say that my whole experience, starting with my Abnormal Pap smear has been happening so fast..I had my cone biopsy three days after seeing the specialist my Dr. referred me to, and that was on April 24 and my TVH is scheduled on May 30, This is the first time I have really had time to think about it...Now reality has set in and I'm getting nervous....but yet I can't wait either....Good luck with your surgery......My thoughts and prayers are with you..
