How long till your vaginal cuff healed? Going on 9 weeks post hysterectomy!!

I am 8 weeks, going on 9 and my doctor has been checking me every week since week 6 but says my cuff is still not fully healed.
Yesterday he said there was a stitch that had turned inside out that was preventing the healing... so more silver nitrate & maybe something else to help dispose stitch (hard to hear sometimes with my head at opposite ends of his, lol)
My question ... has anyone else had vaginal cuff healing take longer than the "normal 6 weeks"?
Not really worried ... just curious!

I also find this question an interesting one. My doctor checked me at 4 1/2 weeks, and said I am healing well, but to wait for intercourse and heavy lifting until the 8 week mark. I got no other details besides that - I don't know if my stitches are gone, or anything. I am sure we all heal differently, but I am curious to know what the average time is for the cuff to heal. I am now 6 weeks out from surgery and still nervous to do much, including swimming, lifting, etc.

Mine has been slow to heal and still is but I'm only on week five. I tore one of the stitches so I suspect that is my problem. At this rate I highly doubt I will be cleared for sex at the six week point.

It was not until my 3 months check up that I was told it was all healed. So sometime between 6 weeks and 3 months it healed and the stitch dissolved. Not having sex is a none issue with me since my husband can't. I did try swimming at 8 weeks after being released at 6 to do it. I tried twice with the same results: felt like the tissue down there had been burned. I thought it was the chlorine but now I wonder if it was due to dry tissue because of no estrogen. I have yet to have the nerve to try this summer.

My doctor said the 12 week mark you would be pretty much healed. I had my 12 week check up today and I am totally healed with not having any issues at all. He also told me that nothing up there for 12 weeks and he would not even to an exam before then to let the cuff heal unless I had a lot of bleeding or issues. I got the all clear today.

Thanks for the replies everyone! It makes me feel more "normal" ;-) to know others have taken longer to heal as well, rather than the 6 weeks they estimate. :-)

I'm three and half months post op and still have some stitches. My other half can feel them but they don't bother me. My next appt is at my six month mark so we shall see
