Lots of Questions?????

Hi Ladies,
I am new to this forum....I am a 30 year old female who is having a full abdominal hysterectomy on October 22nd of 2008. I am very nervous. I have severe endo. and a blood mass on my ovaries the size of a baseball. I know that I need this surgery but very concerned with having the surgery so early and the affects of the hormones over long period of time.....My doctor reassured me that it is ok, although they usally don't do hysterectomy's at my age unless there is no other options....does anyone out there have a similar story or have any advise for me? ....I am hoping to feel like a whole new person after this surgery.

Lots of Questions?????

Good morning Sis30
Welcome - I am so grateful for this site and all the info and friendship offered here.
I have a few years on you but I can relay my experience.
I am 10 weeks post op and it is the best thing I could have done. I had an ovarian cyst that was the size of a cantaloupe, fibroids, endo, and adhesions. I have had no hormone problems. I am have chosen not to take hormones. Although I am using a bit of hormone cream vaginally for dryness. (1mg twice a week).
And yes, I do feel like a whole new person. I haven't felt this good in years.

Lots of Questions?????

I am not post-op yet, going in on the 30th. I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone at all! I am 33 and having a hyster due to adenomyosis. I have had all the same fears. I think about it this way. We wouldn't be going through with this surgery if it was not going to help in some way. I know I can only feel better afterwards because I won't have the constant pain and bleeding. There is a chance the doc will take my ovaries if they look to have a problem, but hopefully that won't happen. If it does I will just take HRT.

Keep reading posts on this site and talking to the women here. They are a GREAT help. I wish you the best of luck!!

Lots of Questions?????

Hey there I am 25 y/o and 7 weeks post op from my TAH/BSO. It is the best thing I have EVER done. I have chosen to not take any HRT because of my endo and family history of cancer, so I was put into a chemical menopause about 4 or 5 months ago. And besides the VERY mild hot flashes, life is great! I was scared before, but I am SO glad I did it. My DR assured me that my symptoms of endo would come back if I went on hormones, so please be careful with that.
