Phantom pains at over one year post-hyst

Hello! I had my hysterectomy on August 1, 2007. All I have left are my ovaries, I have had some phantom bloating feelings in the uterus for almost the entire year, and usually it would go away in a couple of days. this time, however, it has lasted over a week, and I feel some tenderness, in the vaginal area. Can someone tell me what this means? I am hoping this is normal!

Hi unique903 and

We're happy to have you as a member of the Hystersisters community!

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing troubling symptoms. Do you have an extremely "physically strenous" job or daily lifestyle? The reason I ask is...

It took me around a year to be able to "over exert myself" and not have some tenderness and pain afterwards. I was truly suprised that it took so long for the healing tissues to fully recover.

While I am only about 6 weeks post op from original hyst and 11 days from emegengy surgery resulting in the loss of my left ovary, My aunt complained of the same thing you are, her gyn told her was'nt phantom pain at all and in fact it was the intestines and bowles moveing and settling where your uteris and other organs used to be, she was convinced her vaginal wall was prolapsing, if I were you I would make an appt. with you Dr. and ask for a ultra sound to rule anything out.
Best wishes and my hugs and prayers to you.

Hello, thank you for the reply so soon! i have a teachers aide job at my local elementary school. I do not try to over exert myself, but do feel that i tried to hard to "get well". I am a mother to two very active girls, and went back to work after 8 wks. My mom seems to think the same thing about my body still healing, and I have been picking up my five year old a lot lately!

From what I"ve heard it can be normal. I'm only 4.5 months post op and I still get some odd sensations in my vagina at totally random times.
