Pre-op

Hi Sisters, today I had my pre-op with Doc. I wanted to share a few things that I thought could be of interest to other sisters. He spent over an hour with me & answered a list of questions that I had written down. Surgery will take about an hour an a half. I am having a TAH & will not need an enema for that surgery. I asked if he would remove my appendix & he said only if it was easily accessible & with my permission. I asked that he remove it. He said I could shower two days after surgery & bathe one month after surgery. He is going through my c-section scar of twenty-one years & I had concerns about proper healing because I too have a small pouch above my scar. He suggested a low blow dryer to keep my incision dry. He suggested keeping one nail free from nail polish for the monitor.

I have a little discomfort & bleeding that has re-occured since he pressed around my abdomen & a little cramping that I didn't have this morning. I'm schedule for Thursday morning & am getting a little anxious! I know I have made the best decision for a healthy & happier life.

Unfortunately I started my period AGAIN yesterday. Did he do an internal during your examination?

I too have a list of questions and my DH is going with me, although he says he has no questions for the dr. all he has to remember to say is "yes dear".

I'm schedule for October 31 and right now I can't wait to get this over with.

Well, I am new to your site, and am so glad I found it. I am scheduled for a tah for Monday, October 28 and will have a tummy tuck then also. I am so looking forward to the time after the surgery--no more horrific periods, pain, etc., etc. I have learned so much and it has made me an informed patient. My doctor has been impresssed with how well I am informed. I'm trying to keep myself busy this week so I don't get a raging case of the nerves-ladies please continue to keep us all informed--when women talk to each other we all learn so much.
