Re: still no bm

Smooth move tea worked for me before the op but I used stool softeners for a few weeks, also prune juice, and put your feet up on a big book so that your knees are higher, and relax, take your time.

Re: still no bm

Had surgery on Thurs. morning and began eating solids around 4:00 pm that afternoon. I didn't use any pain killers, only 600 mg Motrin.
Was able to pass gas Friday morning and continued to after I ate, but no feeling that I had to 'go'.

Went home Friday afternoon and continued eating normally Friday and Saturday. Slept most of Sunday and didn't eat much (english muffin) during the day. DH made ravioli for dinner & I had some. Afterwards finally felt like I had to go and was able.to with minimal strain. Not much in volume, relative to what I ate in the past two days, but helped me feel a lot better about being able to.

Re: still no bm

4 days post op. Still no BM either, and just a lil gas. I still don't have the urge to pee, just feel cramping in my bladder when I need to go. I'm dreading the first bm. lol i am super excited that the bleeding is gone. Just a lil spotting here and there. but WAY better than before. GL to everyone on their recovery.

Re: still no bm

Ok, i overdid it with too much smooth move tea and laxatives. Should have been more patient. i Finally had bM at midnight- was long painful ordeal. It ended with diarrhea and cramping and a sleepless night. My advice, take the mildest form of stool softener, drink water, and be patient. Laxatives as last resort. :-/

Re: still no bm

Note four days is NOT very long. It took me seven! You don't have much in there but bowels also take much longer to wake up.
If it feels that bad (pressure from bm not gas) try a glycerin suppository. Works quite quickly and helped me in day seven. Ensure you continue to take stool softners every day even after your bm. I swear by it and have been successful each morning since!
Best of luck but don't freak out.
Hugs
