I know this is a dumb question but I gotta ask: if I keep my ovaries, will I still bloat each month???

Re: Quick, Silly Question

Ali,

Not a dumb question... from my research, it's luck of the draw as some women continue to have PMS symptoms and others don't... a friend of mine continued to have monthly bloating after hyst. leaving her ovaries and even though the claims are that the ovaries become dysfunctional after hyst (reported 50% at 3 years), she's at 7 years and still experiencing ...

Re: Quick, Silly Question about PMS oost hysterectomy

I am nine years post op and can still experiencing bloating as part of PMS.

For some, PMS issues worsen following a hysterectomy, for others, the symptoms slowly get better. Mine started out worse and overtime have settled down quite a bit. Initially, mine was worse as the birth control pills I had used for years to help with my cycles had also helped with the PMS.

If you have PMS prior to a hysterectomy, there is a good chance you will experience it to some degree following your hysterectomy.

Re: Quick, Silly Question about PMS oost hysterectomy

Shoot.

I don't want to go into menopause.

I don't want to suffer with PMDD, either.

I despise how the doctor claims "its my decision". I didn't go to medical school!!! How am I supposed to DECIDE what's best?!?!!?
