Re: Last Period

I started my last period ever the day before my hyst. The cramping started 5 days prior to that. Could not take my motrin, just had to tough it out. What a bittersweet experience, I was so miserable but I was focused on my surgery (a.k.a. the light at the end of a very dark tunnel). I practically danced my way into the castle! Good luck ladies, you will be free of aunt flo and all her misery before you know it!

Re: Last Period

Jan 21 it started and throughout the entire time, all I could think about was - it's the last one ever! There is a new freedom just around the corner!

I am anxious about Thursday but as my DH said - think of it as an extreme makeover turning the nursery into a games room

Re: Last Period

January 19th, 11:45 am...Aunt Flo reared her ugly head for the last time. I was at work but I was prepared because I knew how she operated, always showing up at the worst times. Holidays, Proms, Homecomings, swim meets, cheer competitions...I could always count on her to be there.

Because my surgery was only 2 days away I couldn't take anything for the pain. AF made it clear that she was angry that I would be saying goodbye. I was in tears until the morning of the surgery because the cramping was so bad that I couldn't sleep and spent a lot of time curled up in a ball.

Then I remembered what my doctor said at my pre-op appointment. I asked him what would happen if AF showed up for surgery. He said, "It will be the shortest period you've ever had in your life and we'll take care of her for good. She won't bother you again."

She first came into my life when I was 9. I am 41 now and she has definitely overstayed her welcome. I will not miss her one bit. Once I am fully healed, I plan of having a bonfire and I will start it with all of the left over "personal items" from the bathroom closet.

I had my period during my surgery...and of course like many of the others it was not at its schedualed time. I chalked it up as my uterus's last fight It did not affect my surgery though, they just gave me a pad to wear with the hospital undies till they had me on the table. I have to say I faced my last period with a lot of joy and irony...irony that it happened the week of surgery, and joy that I'd never have to worry about the pain, the soaked bedsheets and worrying that doubling up wasnt going to be enough ever again.

Re: Last Period

I am 4 months post op as of the end of this month. I'm just going to remind you ladies to wait until you are compleatly done with the discharge from recovery before burning all those pads. I had some tissue granulasation (no big deal just needed a little silver nitrate) and so I had to use a mini-pad up until the end of my second month.

Re: Last Period

I didn't know it was my last real period. I was actually disappointed to see it because I was trying to conceive. Wish I still could... plus I started getting periods again 6 months after my hyst. So there's nothing to miss except fertility!

Re: Last Period

Flo is visiting me right now and has been for almost 2 weeks and my surgery is a week away. Do they perform the surgery if flo is visiting? I don't know anything about this and I'm so embarrased that I'm even asking this question. I don't have any pain, I've really never had any but I'm scheduled for LAVH on Feb 8th. I'M FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!

Yes they do. Flo had been visiting me for a week when I went in and was still going strong. It was heavy and they didnt even blink at doing it.

Re: Last Period

I am almost 4 weeks post. The day of my surgery I had started my period but it wasn't an issue..literally..The dr. assured me that it will be permantly taken care of. My feelings shifted from relief to alittle sad..not that I wanted more children, but I really just wanted to stay"normal" at least until I hit menapause. Today is the the day I would have started again..funny how I have felt down about it. I know this will pass. I don't miss buying tampons! I don't miss the mess! So all I can say is, I do have alot to look forward too! So I'm sure the emotions will change!! lol I'm learning to enjoy the journey. I pray a speedy recovery for you!race:
