Re: LAVH with fibro and healing time and pain
Please don't apologize, we are here to answer your questions and offer you support. Ask anything and everything that comes to mind
I don't have fibro, but I do have Lupus and I can relate with the feeling of hurting all over. I was very concerned about this and having major surgery as well. Unfortunately, the very nature of our disease is unpredictable and so all we can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. No one can guarantee what your recovery will be like.
Personally, I found the surgery hurt less than I thought it would but it hurt for far longer than I expected. I took my narcotic pain meds for 2 months, and I see some ladies on this site only use them for a couple days. It's important to discuss pain management with your doctor BEFORE your surgery. Some doctors only give out a certain amount of meds and then expect us to take Advil. Make sure you will be provided with the meds you will need for as long as you need them.
I loved my heating pad. I had it on all day and every night. I could not use an abdominal binder, as my belly hurt much too badly to strap anything around it. I couldn't even handle the waistband of my pajama bottoms for a few weeks. Stool softener and Gas X are important too.
