Hi Aimee,

I am scheduled to have TAH on August 6th also so I understand how you are feeling. I am finishing up prepping my house - making it as comfortable as I can - for my return from the hospital.

Best wishes for your surgery and recovery tomorrow.

Re: Best Wishes to our August 06 Princesses

Good morning ladies from one of your post op sisters... I had a TdH BSO on 7/7... There are soooo many variables that will affect your recovery and the BEST advice I can offer u all is what we were all given and is a proven fact... SLOW AND STEADY truly wins this race.... You only have one chance to heal correctly the first time! This should b your new mantra for at least the next 4 weeks....I know it's hard for us women, but please LET your family and friends help! They really want to, and although they may do whatever it is differently or not as well as you...all of your dust bunnies will be waiting patiently for you and the world will not stop spinning while you relax and heal! ... In my case, my surgery was needed for uterine cancer. My friends and family were all very concerned for me and scared ( although they wouldn't show that around me) so they "needed" to help me...and because I found this wonderful website prior to surgery and had a bit of info what to expect, I LET them! Although it's been 29 days already for me, (wow!) I still log in daily to see what my sisters are up to...feels like family now! Take a few minutes to peruse the post op forums, they were a great source alleviating my worries about surgery and post op....it's really not that bad and for some, depending on why surgery was needed, they felt better immediately! Sorry for the length of this, I just really hope I helped you a bit today...best of luck on your surgeries and recovery journey! Healing Hugs!

Re: Best Wishes to our August 06 Princesses

Almost forgot! Wanted to share my recovery "arsenal" in case u weren't aware of products that will help...first and foremost, an abdominal binder...still use it on long outings...a heating pad for gas pains in shoulders...ice pack for swollen belly...gas-x, colace stool softener and Miralax, a mild laxative... (Notice a pattern?) no straining allowed!
