Intercourse at 5 weeks ??

I went to see my Doctor last week when I was 4 weeks post op (plus 2 days), she examined my tummy (no internal) said I could resume everything except heavy lifting which I should be careful with for a while, and intercourse which I should leave another week or so. She has not made an appointment for me to see her again and said just contact her if any problems. I had a SAH.

I have a couple of questions - 5 weeks today and wondering,(btw feel fine and have gone back to a desk job for mornings only for 2 weeks before extending). Did I not need an internal because I didn't have my cervix removed hence no cuff ?? Do I just start intercourse again without this ?? seems as if this is what was suggested just assumed she would look internally. I do have every confidence in my Dr btw just thought I would need an exam before being given the green light.

Also did any SAH'ers have intercourse at 5 weeks or did you wait the whole 6.

I had a supracervical hyst, which means my cervix is still in place. I was able to have intercourse after 4 weeks and I had no problems (I am post-op ten weeks). After two weeks, my doc said it was ok to have orgasms, which I did with no problems.

I have the utmost confidence in my doctor and trust his judgment that he wouldn't recommend it for me if he didn't feel it was ok. Every person, every doctor is different, I think.

Did you have to have an internal exam before you were given the all- clear - this is the bit I am really confused about, maybe with a supracervical as we had there is no need for this.

you are 10 days ahead of me as far as surgery dates. My gyno dr gave me the OK for intercourse this past Thursday while I was in her office. I go back in a month. She did not do an internal exam on me. She did say though that I can only have intercourse under 2 conditions... one, as long as I experienced NO PAIN during intercourse and two, my DH had to wear a condom until week 6 because I am still healing and she doesn't want any germs in there. So today my DH and I decided to give it a try. I did have the big "O" ( sorry if too much info!) and we very carefully made love.... I felt a little strange during so he did not go all the way inside. I feel a little tiny bit crampy now a few hours afterwards but no pain... and there was no pain during. We were just really careful. If you feel its too soon for you maybe you could just have "outercourse" with your DH. I think thats safe!

I also kept my cervix but had TVT sling so that might be a little difference. I don't even think that intercourse would be a possibility for me right now because I'm still having pain. My doc did a vag. exam at 2 weeks and will do another one at 6 weeks.
