HRT following Cancer?????

I assumed I wouldn't be able to use HRT folowing endometrial cancer. But my oncologist says he would prescribe it if my symptoms were bad. Well the hot flashes and sweats are a pain, but manageable. BUT I feel so achey, and getting out of the chair I'm like a 90 year old. So now I'm thinking HRT might be useful. I've also read some research that HRT can reduce the risk of recurrence, and wonder if anyone is on HRT following cancer. All opinions gratefully received

I've been on low-dose Premarin for a little over 2 months now for severe hot flashes and vaginal dryness. My gyn/onc recommended it also because I'm a prime candidate for osteoporosis, since I'm thin and fair.

I was shocked about his casual suggestion that I start on estrogen. He said if the ec recurs, it won't be from low-dose estrogen. I did the research, and I believe he's correct.

There is still controversy about this and there are non-estrogen products to treat our symptoms. I, for one, just don't feel well without estrogen. I don't believe it is an option for those with high grade or later stage ec. It's a tough decision.

thanks for taking time to reply Pearl. I've tried the red clover tablets and sage drops for hot flushes/sweats with no success, but as long as I can quietly flush without an audience I'm fine.lol But the lack of movement in my joints is a problem. I am fairly active of late(mainly to loosen up)but if I'm this stiff after 5 months I dread to think what I'll be like in a year. I have great trust in my oncologist and the team involved in my care, so will be guided by him, but hadn't actually found anyone who had hrt following cancer.

I also remember hearing about different theories for E.C. in thin versus overweight people. Can't remember all the facts -will have to check it out
