walking.. How far?

Hello sisters,
I am just 3 weeks post op (davinci) for endo ca. they took everything and a few nodes for good measure. They got it all, no further treatment needed

I have always been a walker, 3-4 miles several times a week or spin bike or wt lifting etc.
I am so afraid of doing to much, I have no idea how far I should (or shouldn't) be walking by now. I started post op by walking around the house, then the yard, then by a few houses. I think I am up to about a mile or so now. Is that too much? I have been feeling a little pulling where my cervix used to be, but I think the stitches are starting to fall out.
Anyway, at this point I'm letting my body dictate my activity.
Any input is truly appreciated.
thanks and I wish you all well.
mzfit
ps, my post op dr is next week. I'll be sure to mention it there as well.

Re: walking.. How far?

I think listening to your body is the best way to tell.

Yes, just see how you feel. I walk a lot, too, and gradually increased distance and speed. Just don't go a long way in one direction in case you get tired. I didn't find that I would get so tired while I was walking, but some days I would be tired earlier in the evening. Others have said they'd go to walk and be too exhausted to get home.

Re: walking.. How far?

I listen to my body. I thought I would be walking a mile or two by now at 5 weeks, but no. I started out walking through the house when I went to the bathroom, then outside around the yard. Now, I go to the store and get two or three things and I feel like that's enough. If my body feels okay, but I'm just not interested, I don't push it.

Re: walking.. How far?

My doctor said to get up to walking 30-45 minutes. Then when that is good, start increasing speed. You won't be able to go as far at first, but that's ok. You build up to 30 minutes again at the new speed ... Let your body dictate how fast you should be going though. It's not a race ...

Re: walking.. How far?

I started walking about a mile after a week or so. When that was ok I'd walk a mile to get lunch, then walk back. By my 2 week check-up I was going 2 to 4 miles per day. Some days I was a little swollen and tired, but mostly it was ok. I double checked with the surgeon and she said if I feel ok, then walking that much was fine. I'm like you, pre-op was walking alot. I had daVinci with an extra 3 to 4 inch abdominal incision.
