Nausea anyone?
Hello Sisters,
I am four weeks post op and have had a very poor appetite since surgery.
While many ladies post that they have had weight gain, I have lost almost 12 pounds in the past 4 weeks. My surgery was 1/14 and it was just four weeks post op for me on Valentines day.
I'll start off feeling hungry but as I prepare my meal, I begin to feel nauseated and only end up eating a few bites.
Is this happening to anyone else? Is this normal or should I call the doctor?
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the weight loss and not weight gain. I just hate feeling nauseated all the time.
Please help with any suggestions or comments.
Hugs,
Susan

Nausea anyone?
I had no appetite for about four weeks. Actually, food would look good to me, but if I ate too much I ended up feeling very sick, so I avoided eating more than just a few bites. Also, certain foods made me sick...milk products being one of the big ones. Now, at almost 6 weeks I can eat anything and everything. I need to be careful now because I am afraid that the dreaded heartburn will return. Are you still taking any meds? That might also be contributing to your sick stomach.

Nausea anyone?
Hi bangotti40,
Thanks for your reply ... I haven't had any pain meds for about four days. However, like you food smells good and looks good but I can't get past a few bites without overwhelming nausea.
I was just wondering if this was "normal" or if I should trouble my doctor with this symptom.
Since I just reached my four week mark, I think I'll hang in here another week and see if it doesn't improve.
But, thank you for your reply.
Susan

Nausea anyone?
Susan,
I'd call the doctor right away instead of waiting a week. There may be something going on -- either related to the surgery or not. Why keep on feeling nauseous? This doesn't really sound normal to me. (Unfortunately, I never lost my appetite.) Take care.

Nausea anyone?
Thanks Barbara, maybe you're right. I just didn't want to baby myself into thinking there was a problem. I figured I would see what the sisters thought. It's just really weird that I'm hungry and nauseated all at the same time.
Thanks again
Susan

Nausea anyone?
Hi,
Where are you on hormones? Are you taking HRT? If so, it may be a side effect. Read the print out.
How's your gallbladder? Look up gallbladder symptoms on the net and see if anything matches.
I'm sorry you have this. I regained my appetite with 10 days or so and up to full speed by week 5. You need to contact your GP at least.
Hope you find some answers and start feeling better.
