8 weeks PO and my incision opened a bit

Hi all,
This is my first post but I have been a regular visitor to the site since 3 weeks before my surgery. I have had the "perfect" recovery, with very little pain (off meds the day I left the castle) returned to work on week 5 and have been feeling great. UNTIL...... just yesterday when I felt some oozing from my incision. Looks like there is a very small opening on the right side that is leaking. Called the Doc and she has not returned my call. Anyone have any advice... cover it, don't cover it, etc. I cleaned it up with some peroxide and put my big ol white bloomers on again (ugh!)

Using peroxide was a good idea, better than using alcohol. I'd be inclined to put some Neosporin on it and a band-aid or gauze until the doc returns your call. I think that would be pretty harmless. Is the ooze a particular color or bloody? That might determine their recommendation. Hope they get back to you soon! Waiting, and going back to your bloomers, is the worst thing!

Thanks. I think I will clean it up and cover it a bit better when I get home from work. The ooze is not foul smelling or puss like, more like a mix of blood and clear fluid. Could be a little hemotoma popped.

On another note... if you don't mind me asking, what is a parasitic fibroid? Sounds funky! Bet your glad it's gone whatever it is!

8 weeks PO and my incision opened a bit

Mine has been open since surgery where the drain tube was..... Took staples out on monday and it has been really draining since.... Well yesterday it had an odor...... Color was straw like and some blood....

I went to the DR this morning and I have an infection - and was running a fever even after taking 800mg of Motrin a few hours before I got there!!! I have also been having horrible pain where my right ovary was....

The Dr. took a sample on a LONG Q-tip, and opened my incision - OUCH!!! and then packed it - MORE OUCH!!! Then gave me a shot in the bottom and gave me a script for CIPRO. I have to pull the packing out - slowly - about an inch a day and cut it off!

She is hoping this is why I am having so much pain!! I hope so too! Maybe it will get better!!!!

What did your DR say? Hope yours is not as bad as mine!! But keep an eye on it for sure!!! I called the DR. on Tuesday about the amount of drainage and she just blew me off - the more the better she said!!!

Hollster,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner...ISP problems! And of course, I don't mind you asking. I got the definition of parasitic fibroids from WebMd.com:

Parasitic: fibroids that migrate out of the uterus and invade the cervix or other pelvic organs, developing their own blood supply.

Almost like an Alien, huh? Yes, I'm glad everything is gone!!! Hope things are better with your incision!!

The same thing happened to me with me incision at 13 weeks post-op. I called my dr. and he said to try and keep the incision dry and put neosporin on it 3 times a day. Mine seeped the same as yours, very agitating isn't it? It closed back up after a couple days.
Good luck!!

Oh yuck! My surgery was almost 2 weeks ago, but the only oozing I had was from a little patch of skin that seems to be "missing" about an inch away from the incision. I called in a panic, the doc said to use neosporin and a bandaid, got my incision check a couple days later & all is ok for now. But you ladies are scaring me! It can reopen weeks and weeks later? OH NO!?!?!?
I hope you heal up soon!
