New here & having LAVH on 03/08/05

This is my very first post!

I just found out yesterday that I am going to be having LAVH on 03/08/05, I was supposed to be having Endometrial ablation, but they found a very big fibroid and a cyst on my ovary yesterday. So I am having a hysterectomy. My doctor is leaving one ovary and trying to save the other one if he can (the one that has the cyst on it).

Any advice on post-op care would be helpful, I have 5 sons, ages 18, 17, 9, 4, and 3. I already knew that I could no longer have children because during the birth of my last son my uterus ruptured.

So call me crazy but I am a little excited at the thought of not bleeding so bad every month. I can't even begin to imagine how wonderful that will be.
