TAH Fever chills headache in week 3 post hysterectomy

I am in my 3rd week post op and have been feverish, chills, headache pain, some abdomen pain when i urinate. Not sure if its a uti or something else, but i know its so horrible feeling this way. I have cried and cried, and i am not the crying type. Im starting to feel like this was a big mistake. Please help!

if you have fever and pain when you urinate, you need to let your doctor know. did your post op instructions tell you when to call the dr if you have a fever?

Im sorry to hear that you feel lousy...Do put a call into your Dr. promptly...Fever, chills & discomfort when you urinate sounds like a UTI.

As far as crying, being emotional that is from reduced estrogen. Symptoms can be fatigue, insomnia, headaches, brain fog, hot flashes, joint pains, digestion issues ++ So, talk to your Dr about hormones as well.

Once you see your Dr Im sure you'll feel a lot better.

If you suspect a UTI, other signs to watch for include frequent, persistent urges with little production, a burning feeling when it comes out, and cloudy, or strong smelling urine. I see these types of infections in this forum on a regular basis, commonly caused by the surgical antibiotics indiscriminately killing off the good bacteria inside your urinary tract. If your doctor does diagnose an infection, I would recommend a probiotic supplement, including the strain L acidophilus, in addition to what he prescribes, to restore these good bacteria. Also ask about eating soy to help with hormonal balance; if you are okay with that, then I would recommend 1-2 daily servings of tofu, edamame, or soy milk. Here's hoping you'll be over these issues soon, and back on the road to recovery!

They said if its 102 or higher which it hasn't been. My partner is a nurse so that helps a bit. I took some antibiotics and am feeling better this morning. I've been struggling with fever off and on for a couple weeks.

It could be an infection, please adoc, taking antibiotics one day wouldn't help much long term.

I know that. Im still on antibiotics.

Push the fluids along with the abx. I ended up with a raging kidney infection 3 weeks post hyst. Definitely call MD if fever persists!! Hang in there!!

How are you feeling now? You need to consult your Dr... the fever has me concerned.., sounds like a UTI
