Hi all you wonderful women!

Doc called the day before the surgery and said in reviewing my chart, wanted to try TVH before doing TAH. I said "yes, yes, yes!" I had a feeling she'd be able to because I was having incontinence, which led me to believe the uterus had dropped enough to where she could get to it.

Got to hospital around 6:15am, in OR by 7:30am, woke up in recovery at 10am, reached down under sheets, could feel skin--must've been a TAH. Hooray!

In room by 11:30am, pain never above an "8" out of 10, doc visited, said all went well. Only problem was horrific sore throat from breathing tube. Without thinking, took a swig of apple juice & thought I'd die! Throat didn't get better til I had some chicken broth. Kept broth down, along with graham crackers, so doc said I could have real food Fri. night.

No cath so got up and down with IV pole to go pee. Took short walks with family Fri. evening and Sat. am.

No itching from pain meds...no naseua..had raisin bran Fri. night. Suddenly about 5 pm I started having to pee every 15 minutes. My family was concerned about leaving...wondered how I'd manage all night alone if I had to pee that often.

Had nurse check chart, doc wrote IV could come out if I wasn't using pain meds, disconnected IV at 9pm. Much better!

BTW, took last hit of pain pump around 4pm, nurse made me take oral percocet at 8pm, I didn't need it.

Forget about sleeping in hospital....

So hungry Sat. am ate scrambled eggs without ketchup, lol. Doc came by around 9am, said I could go home. Gave me Rx for percocet (haven't needed) and antibiotic. Went over blood results, said see ya in 2 weeks.

Yahoo. I could not be happier.

Spent yesterday at parents' hotel, took a walk, went in the jacuzzi, went to Ruby Tuesday's, took a nap.

Am so grateful for all my sisters who have made this journey much less stressful than if I hadn't found y'all.
