travelling after a TVH

I may have a big problem! I am scheduled to fly to Indiana on the 24th of July for a business convention - my TVH is scheduled for June 14th - That is 5 2/3 weeks between the two.

Do you think I'll be ok to fly and go to my convention? I know I won't be going major partying during the convention - just sitting through the meetings and 1 awards banquet -

Otherwise, I may have to change my visit to the castle! I don't want to do that - but this convention is a very important part of my training, so I really, really need to be there!

I'd appreciate everyone's input!

travelling after a TVH

hi
i am 6 weeks post op today and going back to work today also but part days/part time. i also had a TVH with a normal recovery that has gone for the most part well. I think I would have been fine last week to partake in such a convention however it all depends on your stamina. The reason I am only returning to work part days has more to do with being on my feet alot at work and also my stamina still isnt quite "there". Alot of it will depend on if you are able to sit for long periods. I know sitting upright for long periods is still a bit uncomfortable for me too. I tend to sit with my legs propped up which feels better. Tough call for you but i suspect you will feel well enough by then but plan on sleeping ALOT vs the social.

Hi, Cyndi! You should ask your dr for his recommendation, but I think he will say you could manage a short flight and sitting for meetings that aren't over-long. I went on vacation 5 weeks post op and did fine, though I did more activity than my dr liked and had to take Advil during the day. As long as you listen to your body, and try not to sit for too long in one position (to prevent blood clots which can be a risk after surgery) you probably will be feeling fairly good. You may tire more easily, so rest as much as you can between meetings. s and best wishes!
