Bandage removal, sticky tape residue!

I am on day 3 of recovery from TAH BSO.
I had a really rough time right after surgery with severe vomiting. I'm home now, got a shower and have been taking it easy. Nurse took my bandage off in the hospital. I have the worst sticky residue all over my lower belly. Any hints on getting it off? Can't rub too hard on that area.. Ouch!! My undies are sticking to the residue. Really uncomfortable when going to the bathroom!

Re: Bandage removal, sticky tape residue!

Try oil. I know vegetable spray works for adhesive but would not recommend around open wound. So try regular cookong oil or any oil. Let it soak for a few minutes.

I had the same issue too, but had to be careful which bandages I used because I have an allergy to band aid adhesive so they used clear tegaderm or whatever it's called, but I was told to use lotion to help remove it but I also used small otc alcohol wipes, which helped better. I hope this helps, get well soon

Re: Bandage removal, sticky tape residue!

I used alcohol on cotton balls only on the residue to get it off. I had to keep mine covered longer because of a separation issue that I had to pack and leave covered for several weeks.

I had a huge bandage and my nurse some type of wipes but that was for my catherd residue . My bandage one just wore off after many showers . I did not touch tummy to sore.I hope recovery goes well.

Try baby oil, it's gentle and will probably work well.
Don't worry, you will feel better and better as each day passes and there is no greater place to heal than HOME

I used Goo Gone. Worked great!
