Gushing blood and blood clots 19 days post op

Exactly 7 days post op LAVH, I had a fever of 103, couldn't eat or hold down fluid, had severe abdomal pain and was gushing blood. After a CT scan, doc found a 8cm infected hematoma. I was rushed into surgery to have it drained. I'm still having light bleeding and its been 32 days since I had the hematoma drained. So happy you went to the hospital, your in the best place. The doctors should be 100% positive of what's going on so it can be resolved and you can get back to "healing". Your in my prayers, good luck!

Update here...

I am now home from the hospital and on antibiotics for the next 5 days. A CT scan didn't show any abnormality that would explain the bleeding, and all my vitals look good, so the assumption is that the cause is from a pelvic infection that dumped blood and fluid into my cervix. Once the infection is cleared up, this should not happen again.

On a side note, the scan did show an abnormal appendix, which they are watching.

Taking things easy for now... I'm really being careful this time around.

So glad to hear you are home. Take it super turtle slow. Keep your heels elevated and rest, rest, rest. Funny thing about this surgery, it seems to highlight or dig out other issues you never knew you had. I just got diagnosed with IBS. Had no idea I had it, I just thought I was having "healing" stomach pains. The GI doctor told me the stress on my body from hyster activated it. So crazy! When you are better have the appendix checked out. ((HUGS))

The same thing happened to me on day 21 post op. Like you, I stood up from the couch and profuse bleeding!! Went to ER, and had to have emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. I had to have blood transfusions due to the blood loss. My emergency GYN said possible over cauterization from original surgery that can cause tissue damage and bleeding. So traumatized, I understand how you feel. I ended up with an infection from hospital, contagious diarrhea!! So, my experience was horrific. Oh, and today I passed a staple!!!
