Anyone else having 'ghost' pains?

I had tvh/bso may 5th. Prior to surgery I had pain from right ovary pretty much all the time. Had problems with cysts for ten years. The pain was something I just learned to deal with. Well, now the ovaries are gone and that pain on the right side has been there for 3 days now. Has anyone else felt like that? It's not bad enough for prescription pain meds, but it's just nagging. Ibuprofen helped before the ovary was removed; but that's not helping now, of course.

yes I have felt something like that, however I don't need to take anything for it and it doesn't last too long. I figure it is the healing going on in there where he removed the ovary and tubes. Lots of cutting, cauterization in the area, lots of reconstruction so to speak where the stuff was.

I have phantom pain! I thought I was going crazy. Mine isn't that bad and it doesn't last long. I noticed it more during week 3, but haven't felt it in several days.

Re: Anyone else having 'ghost' pains?

Hi Kaemunds,

There have been a couple of threads about this topic, which I read and wondered about. Curiously, I think it was either on Sunday or Monday, I had cramps similar to those that I'd get a day or two before my expected period. Of course, they weren't nearly as bad as they used to be, but I did notice it and was concerned. I also felt quite nauseated but wasn't sure if it was due to having done too much that day or if it was hormonal (prior to surgery I had an AWFUL time leading up to my period).

I know you said you had a BSO, but I do believe that you can have "phantom pain" for sure. Just curious, when you first noticed this pain, was it around the time that you would normally have ovulated or started your period? It's all very interesting. Thanks for the thread!

Glad it's not hurting now!! Take care.

Re: Anyone else having 'ghost' pains?

I have had phantom pain off and on since my surgery last wednesday. It was especially strong the night of the procedure, but I still feel it from time to time.

Re: Anyone else having 'ghost' pains?

I asked my dr about phantom pain..and she said that it wasn't phantom paid as much as it was the same nerves healing with which we felt the pain before, so it felt similar...

B+,
now that I think about it, the pain was right around the time I would've started. That is interesting. Thanks for making me think about that.

Briegan,
Thanks for replying. What your dr said makes sense. Our bodies do strange things.

Re: Anyone else having 'ghost' pains?

The nerve healing really makes a lot of sense.
