Its been 3 weeks since my hyst and I sailed thru healing like I was supergirl without the cape. Now my scar is infected and bleeding in spots and it burns and itches. I cannot get an appointment to see the docotr till Nov 4th. The office staff thinks I might be having an allergic reaction to the sutures. How can you tell if its an allergic reaction? Also I have a sharp pain under my rib cage when I take a deep breath. I don't know if they are related symptoms or not. Has anyone else had this type of problem?

I had no problems with my stitches, I can't believe that they are going to make you wait till November 4th. I would go to the dr's office and show the nurses the incision and maybe they can get you in before then. I would think the sooner it was taken care of the better. If it gets too bad you may need to go the ER. I wish you the best, keep us posted. Carol

Hey, we share our hyst date!
I work in an ER, and we would not tell you to wait another 1 1/2wks to have this seen.
Call the office again...and if you get nowhere with them go to the ER. It's not worth the wait if you have an infection.
Take it easy, LL

If you think you need to see the dr. don't let the office staff make you wait until the 4th.

If you can't get into the person who performed the surgery, go to your regular doc. I wouldn't let it wait that long, neither should the doctor's office. BTW, I've had similar rib pain, my doc said it's muscle strain. Wishing you the best.

Hugs,

Lilli

Are you asking to speak to a nurse or are you just speaking to who ever answers the phone? If I can't get the office person to help, I always ask for the nurse. If you can't do that, go to the ER. you don't want an infection to get out of hand

Thanks to everyone who responded. It feels good to have caring concerned people respond who are going or have gone thru the same. I did manage to get in to the doctors office and saw another doctor. Actually the resident who helped with my surgery. Turns out its not infected which is great news but I feel a bit dramatic. Can I just say it felt infected? I felt reassured after a doctor checked everything out. I think it was odd for me because I felt great initially after surgery and then half way thru, it all switched and became painful and red. The doc said it looked great.
