Scared!

Hi girls,
I need some help! I have pushed this fear out of my mind during recovery but it has resurfaced.
After surgery the doctor told me they had found endometriosis and it had formed an adhesion attaching the uterus to the bowel. She wanted to do the lupron shots and obtain a colonoscopy to see if it had penetrated the wall of the colon.
Last night when I had a bm there was blood on the toilet paper. This is the second time this has happened, the first was before surgery.
This has me scared! Is this a symptom of the endo in the colon? If it is does that require a surgery? I can't imagine another surgery.
I am really scared as I just want to recover from this and get on with my life............

Scared!

you have had a rough week....
While I don't know anything about endo on the colon sadly I know much about blood in the stool. is it bright red or darker? Bright red is usually indicative of fresh blood and usually means that it is coming from a source closer to your rectum ( like a hemoroid or a fissure ) Are you constipated? have you been? Did you strain during your BM? I would call the Dr. if it happens again and especially if the blood is dark, tarry or looks blackish. Now remember I am not a DR. go with your gut!

Scared!

When I had my TAH/BSO they found endo that almost completely blocked my small intestine. A general surgeon was on call in the even that any internal repairs had to be done. This was so that I would not have to go back into surgery a second time. They resected the small intestine by taking about 2" off and putting it back together again. When I last saw the general surgeon he cleared me and said I didn't need to come back to him. I too am concerned about endo coming back since I never knew that I had it until the surgery. I did have bright red blood in my bowels this week but then again I have hemmoroids and was constipated. I have had bowel movements since this one and there hasn't been any more blood.

Scared!

thanks for responding guys. I have not been constipated and as far as I know do not have hemoroids. The blood is bright red so I'm guessing it is new blood. They did not remove all of the endo during my surgery because I had not had any bowel prep. Before surgery I thought I was lucky to not have to do this but after... I wish I had so they could have removed more.

Scared!

I did do a bowel prep and I am glad that I did. I asked my surgeon about the endo if they were able to get it all and he said he thinks so and I aksed about it coming back and he said he wasn't sure. Talk about leaving me hanging. But I guess that was better than yes I got it all and it comes back and now I get mad at him etc. I would call your dr about the blood.
