6 days post hysterectomy - can't get comfortable.
I'm on day 6 post op, I'm constantly shifting positions with my body pillow and without. It's getting harder to get comfortable. Last day or two I've had the urge to lay on my belly. I hope it's not a stupid question but I haven't read or heard anything addressing that specifically. Is this ok to do for a least a few minutes?

Haven't heard anything either, but my swelly belly is protesting just thinking about it. I assume your body will let you know really quick if it's not a good idea. If you try it make sure you can roll back over it it doesn't work. Getting up and doing a lap or two around my appartment every few hours helped me with my discomfort. Hope you feel better soon!

All I can say is it gets better. Can not imagine laying on my stomach at that time. I have only recently been able to lay on my side.

I've been sleeping on my side for the past few nights, but can't imagine on my stomach. But then my stomach looks like a tick ready to pop, so....not a good idea for me just yet.

Re: 6 days post hysterectomy - can't get comfortable.
I'm a week out today and have slept on my sides a little for 2-3 days...And I can't stay on one side very long, it feels like everything from the top side is being pulled down, uncomfortable feeling for me...Can't even imagine laying on my tummy for a second even...I know sleeping on my back has made for sleepless nights for me!! I'm a side and tummy sleeper! But just listen to your body if it doesn't hurt in anyway go for it just try not to stay to long you make regret it when you wake up...Hope it works for you! God knows I'm ready to sleep like normal again too..

Re: 6 days post hysterectomy - can't get comfortable.
I am 4 weeks post op and have found the best way to sleep is in cased in pillows. I also like to sleep on my sides but can't do that really so which ever side I do sleep on I have a pillow to support my back so I'm more at a 30° rather than 90° and a pillow between the legs.

I am also a tummy sleeper.... it is soooo not comfortable on my back/sides. 2 wks post op and i can only turn on my right side for a while. I also get that "pulled down feeling".

6 days post hysterectomy - can't get comfortable.
Thanks ladies 😊 I've found that the most comfortable position for me to sleep in has been on my side. I would never try to sleep on my tummy. I just wondered about during the day when I'm constantly shifting on the sofa. Since it's been advised that "support" such as a binder or body pillow on the tummy may be helpful, I just thought since I don't have any swelling I may be able to tolerate it for a few minutes. Of course putting all my weight on my tummy would be quite different lol!
