What to expect at 6 week check up

Now I don't go until Sept 11th but I am just curious what to expect.

Also would it be rude to ask her all over again about what she saw and did? I mean she told me when I was just coming out, but I don't remember in detail and I want to know.

What to expect at 6 week check up

My poor doctor! He spent about 25 minutes with me at my 5 week post-op visit. I asked him lots and lots and lots of detailed questions about my surgery, what he found, what he did, what I should expect in the future, etc. He patiently asnwered my questions until I ran out.

I think you should ask your doctor anything you are concerned about. A good doctor will answer everything and put your mind at ease.

I agree with goldmine....ask away! Especially because that is what they get paid for - to be our doctor, to answer our questions, etc., etc. I just had my 6 week post-op yesterday and I took a list of questions - start writing them down now while you are thinking of them and just keep a running list handy to keep adding too. When my doc first came in she asked the normal questions - how are you doing, etc. We went over my questions that she could answer before checking me out (like how the surgery went, the pathology report, how dingdongdang big that ol' uterus was etc.) Then she did a pelvic exam - to me it didn't hurt like pre-hyst, she said that may be because my cervix was gone. Then she did a manual check inside, tap all around on the belly, backside, etc. After the exam I finished my list of questions like if it was ok to resume sex, etc. I double checked my list and marked them off as we went along. Really, it was a big deal having this procedure done....we are changed women forever....so we need to ask questions and deserve the time it takes to get the answers.

Take care, and I wish you a speedy, safe recovery!

What to expect at 6 week check up

Hi, My surgery was August 5, 2008
My doctor does a one week post op visit, then a three week and a six week. So, I just went to my one week visit and he read me my entire pathology report and read from my chart every detail of what they did while they were in there, what they saw, what it meant...etc. It was pretty fascinating. I was feeling like you are - I couldn't really remember what he told me in recovery and since I was so out of it I didn't ask any of the questions I wanted to ask so it was nice to clarify everything. Also, I was really scared being only one week past surgery and having him examine me...not really looking forward to someone probing around in there, if you know what I mean!!! But he was very gentle, just had to check my stitches and it was very painless. Hope this was helpful!
