Bleeding two wks aft surgery/Supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy
I had a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy mid July. I started bleeding two weeks in, I have had two ultrasounds. There is blood in the area of the cervix. It started light pink discharge, then red blood and is darker now but my Dr informed me that they cortorize the area of the cervix during surgery, but I am having a problem understanding that why won't it stop. It is dark in color but is still consistent. My Dr stated to me if it doesn't stop or becomes bothersome to go and have silver nitrate/monicells done to get rid of existing tissue there.
*** My question is that I have been out of work four weeks from surgery this Tuesday, I don't want to wait. I am thinking of contacting him again to see if this can be done now while I am still out of work. I don't want to go back to work and Have to arrange time to take off again.
I had this procedure done thinking I wouldn't have any bleeding. It has really been difficult because I am allergic to all and any narcotics. I delt with pain with only minimal Advil per the Dr. then Stopped and took Tylenol.
So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I should pursue asking if the silver nitrate/monicells can/should be done now?

Re: Bleeding two wks aft surgery/Supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy
Bleeding is pretty normal. I'm still bleeding even though I had my surgery July 1st. I called my doc just in case and she said that yes, it's still normal. Should lighten up in a week or so for me. We shall see.
It's my understanding that the silver nitrate is for those who have healthy tissue that needs removing because it's preventing healing from taking place. I'm more of a hands off kinda gal, so I tend to lean toward leaving it and seeing what happens. Ultimately, this is your body and your choice! Do what you feel is right for your situation.

Bleeding two wks aft surgery/Supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy
Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it. I just don't want to bleed again down the road ya know. The tissue in the cervix he said would should have been cortorized so bleeding will not happen when I ovulate. But I'm nervous that there is tissue and bleeding. And I do not want to bleed ever again that's why I had this done. Esp when I do ovulate I don't want any bleeding to happen

Re: Bleeding two wks aft surgery/Supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy
I completely understand not wanting to bleed! A few days back when I hit the 5 week mark, I called my doc to say "Shouldn't I be done with this by now?" Nope. I guess I feel like I've paid my dues over and over every month, so I'd like to be able to coast a little bit. Ah well. It is what it is and I look forward to a long life without anymore heavy bleeding! Now the wait.
