Ringing in your ears?

Last night I went online to the American Tinnitus Foundation. It was pretty interesting. There are some things to try for ringing in the ears - once you're at the site, go to "About Tinnitus" then "Tinnitus Information for Patients".

Another good site (and one that actually talks about several different kinds - even the one that makes it seem as if your heart is beating in your ears) is "Online Guide to the Ringing in Your Ears: Tinnitus". It's in easy-to-read language, too.

Maybe you'll find something that will help you. I'm going to a doctor and we're doing tests - if I discover anything that might apply to our situation, I'll let you know - but the doctor never suggested that it could be hormone-related even though he knew I had just had surgery. Duh!!!

Ringing in your ears?

Hi Ladies,

I have an interesting diagnosis to throw out to those of you that are experiencing that swooshing noise, hearing the palpitations, etc. Have you checked your blood count? There is a good possibility it could be that you are anemic. I was experiencing this and suprised when others started posting about it here. I'm not very computer literate and don't know how to go through old posts and put the links here, but maybe someone else here does and can find the old posts on this. Otherwise, if you go into search you might look into old posts on anemia, blood loss, or even anemia and ear noises and see what you find. Maybe this will help some of you.

Take care, jmw

Ringing in your ears?

I was able to find the post under "Iron levels" and for those of you that still have ovaries that think this may not be hormone related you might want to check this post. It's very long, but goes into detail about iron levels, symptoms, etc. They don't discuss the ear issue until the second or third page I believe. When I tried to find this post, I also found several others under anemia that listed ringing in the ears as a problem. So for those of you that are trying to determine the source of this, it may be worth talking to your MD about your current blood count.
