Goodbye note to my uterus

My surgery is scheduled for MONDAY at noon. I'm nervous, but managing. Thought I needed to have some closure on this situation. So, I've decided this is what I'm taping to my belly when I go in for surgery. My DR thinks I'm already a little "off", but I really feel the need to say goodbye and this is how I plan on doing it. It felt soooo good to put it in writing.....

I just want to say, goodbye and so long my dear uterus.
Do you remember? I do. We met when I was nine.
Whoever thought this would be the end of us?
This has been tough, please remember this decision was MINE.

You helped me grow into the woman I am today,
You, along with the ovaries that I really wish would stay.
I’m well on my way into womanhood, I AM HERE!
Without you I will not change and this I know you fear.

This has been a lengthy ordeal, one full of so much pain.
But I know that I am surrounded by people who care, I am loved.
It’s okay for you to go, there’s no more need for you to remain.
So, when Dr. K reaches in with her hand (which, will be gloved)…

IT’S TIME FOR YOU TO GO.
Oh, and take her with you, take Aunt Flo!
You’ve caused me nothing but pain all these years.
This is “goodbye”. My heart remains heavy, my eyes filled with tears.

Goodbye note to my uterus

Just wanted you all to know that DR's do appreciate a sense of humor and need for closure.

My DR came in to see me on day of discharge (12/09) even though she wasn't scheduled to be in. It started when I was rolled into the operating room saying "hey, it looks kind of crowded in here, you want me to come back later on?" Apparently the good meds started working before I ever made it in the door.

DR wanted me to know that she loved the note I taped to my belly! She found it as they were taking the gown off me after I was put under. DR says she read it to everyone several times, at first everyone in the operating room listened but they cracked up and had a grand old time with the note. She even asked the nurses that took care of me on the floor got to see it and said it was too bad when it didn't follow me up in the chart!
