Fingernail Polish???
I had my pre-op appointments today and I forgot to ask them about fingernail polish. I don't usually polish my nails, but I always have bright red toenails!! I can't believe I forgot to ask about that!! Did I read on here that they don't want us to wear polish into surgery? If so, does anyone know why?

Fingernail Polish???
I think that depends on the hospital. I know where I am going I can wear nail polish (fingers and toes), artificial nails, and even make-up. I know that alot of places don't allow this for the main reason of circulatory analysis. They want to see your nails to make sure you have enough oxygen. They also don't allow nail polish due to the pulse-ox that they put on your finger( also an oxygen sensory matter). So I guess you should call and ask- if all else fails and you do have on polish and are not allowed, they will simply remove it when you get there. Best of luck to you-

Fingernail Polish???
I am allowed to wear polish on my toes but was told by my surgeons nurse that I could not have any polish on my hands so they could check my fingernails for capillary refill. (this has something to do with the oxygen count previously mentioned). My girlfriend was at a different hospital and had the same restrictions as me.
Good luck on your up and coming surgery.

Fingernail Polish???
Thanks!! I'll call the hospital to double check. I don't need fingernail polish, but I absolutely hate the way my toes look when they're naked!! LOL!!

Fingernail Polish???
No nail polish for me, either. This will be the first surgery and first hospital I've experienced that doesn't allow it.

Fingernail Polish???
I asked and was told painted toe nails were fine, just not fingernails. I couldn't stand the thought of bare toe nails!

Fingernail Polish???
I had painted my toes red for my castle stay. Wanted to look pretty on the OR table (whatever!). Got there and the OR is so cold I put socks on! So much for my pretty toes for my surgery team!
I painted my nails on my 2nd day in the castle watching T.V.

Fingernail Polish???
I have had a few surgeries, and the same was true for all of them. No nail polish on my fingers, but toes were fine. I have not gone without toe nail polish a single day since I was like 15 or so... Friends and family make fun of me, but who cares. Good luck! Diana

Fingernail Polish???
I had the same question before my surgery. My hospital allowed me to wear nail polish on my fingers and toes. I was also worried about my acrylic nails, but those were also allowed. They just said I couldn't wear a dark or metallic color. Check with your surgeon and/or hospital.
I am now 16 days post op, and my nails are in desperate need of a fill and polish. I think I'm capable now sitting in the manicurist's chair, so I'm going to call tomorrow and make an appt.
Good luck ladies with your surgeries!
