Re: anxiety and feeling palpitations

I had taken Ambien. Some nights it does help me sleep for up to 6 hours or so. Others I can't even tell that I took anything. I have not had any bad experience with it at all. I have had terrible experience with the anti-depressants though. Well wishes to all.

Re: anxiety and feeling palpitations

I'm leery of the antidepressants too because I get migraines. but,I feel like I have to have something for the anxiety, esp. at night... I can cope during the day but the no sleep thing is pretty difficult... Makes my stomach upset too- I say it is my "hysterectomy diet"!

Re: anxiety and feeling palpitations

I had alot of anxiety before which started about two years ago. I would take Ativan for it because it always seemed to follow my cycle and the doctor said it was probably my hormones bringing them on. My hyst. was on 7/30/09 (I was able to come home that day) and so far I have not had to use my Ativan. Today I feel alittle of anxiety but I am very tired and still having pain. Also very dizzy which I think could be from my patch.

Re: anxiety and feeling palpitations

mam529- the dizziness could be from pain meds- they will make you tired. But, it is important to stay on top of them! Hopefully the pain will pass fairly quickly- I felt better (not pain free) at the end of my first week. I am lucky now, 5 weeks out that I am fairly pain-free. Good luck with the anxiety- for me, it is more bothersome than the pain.

crazydoglady- I know what you mean about the anxiety being more bothersome, it got to the point I wanted to cry. I ended up in the ER three times until I figured out that everytime I was in the ER I had my period. Good luck....

Re: anxiety and feeling palpitations

I just turned 50 a month after my TVH with BSO. I had alot of palpitations for a while. My Doc even did an EKG and I wore a holster moniter for 48 hours. Everything came back "normal" so it seems hormones are to blame. My hot flashes and night sweats are worse some weeks than others but are always there. I had had a few of both before my surgery so I know I was headed into menopause too. Right now I'm not doing any estrogen replacement therapy but I did talk to my doctor about it. If things get too much for me to handle then she thought I could try it for a while but would rather I not do it long term. Hopefully your anxiey and palpitations will begin to go away as mine did. The sleeping at night is tough too but I chalk that up to my hot flashing and night sweats. I'm either hot or cold all night long. I may ask for Ambien at my next appt. if things don't improve but I'm optimistic that I'm going to continue to improve. Best wishes to all those out there in the same boat!
