6 days to go and So nervous and scared.

Hi,

I have 6 days until my surgery, my dr. decided to push my surgery up, was scheduled for the 17th of April, and now, March 27th. I'm only 30, and I have no kids....I was always pretty sure that I never wanted any, but now that the option isn't there...I'm feeling overwhelmed by this.

I feel kind of crazy, knowing that I didn't want kids, but at the same time being upset that I am having a hysterectomy. Is this normal? I'm overwhelmed by these feelings. I feel like my whole womanhood is going...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brocos82,

There must be a reason your doc recommended surgery, and I would try to focus on that, in the healing that you need to do. There will be plenty of time to agonize over it, but at the end of the day, you need to have it done, right?

Try reframing the new date as a gift, that you'll be in better shape for summer.

It will be ok.

Thank you, yes, my Dr. says it needs to be done. So, I guess focusing on the what ifs isn't helping me. It's just hard to take a breath and realize that it will be ok...and doesn't diminish my value as a women. Which I'm kinda of feeling like.

Re: 6 days to go and So nervous and scared.

I kind of understand how you feel except I have two kids and then had my tubes tied. About 2 years ago I started to feel bad that I had my tubes tied. Then in Dec 2012 I had to make another choice that would take away all chance of have kids. (we had talked about invetro before because we more) The surgery was supposed to help my problem but made them worse. It cried about that because it meant I could have no more. But now here I am having my surgery is 4/2 and I am have a hard time copeing that I will never by no chance ever have another children. My kids have wanted a baby and I even heard them praying for a baby many times so now I have to tell then no matter what there will be no more babies. So sorry for the rambling but I think it is normal to have second thoughts, or sad feeling and loss. On chapter is closing but a new and hopefully better one is about to start. Hugs

Hi triciasmithone,

That is sad. Brings tears to my eyes picturing your children praying for a baby. It's hard making the decision, especially when it needs to be done for your health. I hope that this surgery for you will be successful and maybe another way will come to you and your family for a baby. Yes, I am trying to see the bigger picture and see it is a new different beginning, but is hard.

I felt the same way at first, it was always an option to have kids, but when your faced with something like this, you have that decision taken away from you, and you feel helpless. I pretty much knew I wasn't going to have children of my own, so I finally made peace with having the hyst.
I have a wonderful DH and he's very supportive.
