Flagyl and cipro for infections

I have 2 more cipro pills to take to complete the 10 day course for my bladder infection. Flagyl was added to the mix last week. I am half way through the 7 day course for BV.

My question is....

Has anyone else been prescribed these drugs?
I have heartburn like crazy. My abdomen feels like every intestine is on fire and I am bloated looking like I am 6 months pregnant and it's hard as a rock with a lot of gas and discomfort. As well, I am extremely lightheaded weak and fatigued which the pharmacist says is caused by the flagyl.

I am so zoned out I feel like I can't drive and drunk all the time and just want to lay down on the spot if I am out somewhere. And all I taste is chemical in my dry mouth.

Please tell me this gets better.

Has anyone else experienced this on these medications?
Would love to hear that this is normal.

Re: Flagyl and cipro for infections

Antibiotics can be harsh on the body.
And just the body dealing with the infections. You are going to be zapped for a while.
I know whenever i had a bladder infection and had cipro or any antibiotics for it, i was zapped for a couple weeks.
It does take a lot out of you.
I know from a friend that flagyl is very harsh on the stomach.
And it is a harsh drug so it can make you feel very zapped as well.
With the stomach and intestinal issues, have yogurt and/or probiotics, it will help for sure.
If you keep feeling bad then check into the doctor to just check up on you to be sure everything is ok.
Take great care

Re: Flagyl and cipro for infections

Thanks for the reply I feel the side effects are worse with every day. Am on a probiotic and yogurt stacked in the fridge. I knew antibiotics were harsh on the stomach and for yeast but this whole knocking the wind out of me in terms of being almost lethargic and drunk had me concerned.

Re: Flagyl and cipro for infections

I had my DVH 3 days ago and I was prescribed both of those antibodics. So gar, so good! The nausea patch behind my ear helps A TON!!!

My belly is the same...big, hard as a rock and very swollen. My binder does help a little.

I'm so sorry you're not feeling good. Have you tried Milk of Magnesia? I only took 1 dose because it helped so much with the constipation. I actually bought it at the dollar store. My Dr. Told me absolutley no drinking alcohol with the Flagyl...I guess I looked like I needed a drink lol

Re: Flagyl and cipro for infections

Lol well here's to a speedy and full recovery for all of us so we can all have a stiff one to unwind from this recovery!

I don't have nausea since I take the antibiotics with food but man oh man these side effects are worse than the surgery at times!
