Anyone have an abnormal first pap smear after TAH?

Hello all,

I had a TAH w/BSO in Sept. of this year.

I opted to keep a small portion of my cervix.

I had my yearly pap this month and came back with "atypical" cells and has to be repeated in 3 months.
This has never happened before in over 20 years-since I started having pap smears and I am quite upset over this-seeing that I just had a hysterectomy with everything else out not even a year ago.

We will repeat it in 3 months.

I am just wondering if the trauma of surgery, going into surgical menopause or on estrogen might have any affect on the cells in your cervix?

Thanks.

Sweetpea....it can be normal to have an abnormal pap following a hysterectomy, especially since they took out part of your cervix and left part. I'd talk to your doctor though to ease your worries.....
