Sharp, throbbing, shooting pains...
I'm one week post op...had the da vinci hysterectomy and will see my doctor next Tuesday. I feel like my pain changes every day, but for the last few, I've been having really sharp throbbing pains by my pubic bone...well away from incisions, etc. Sometimes it shoots down to the whole genital area. I will obviously talk to my doc about it if it persists, but, is this the norm for anyone else? I was doing really well the first few days, aside from the horrendous gas pains and feeling my intestines moving around. I may have over done things a little, but I'm not bleeding anymore. TIA.

Sorry you are having pains, hopefully it will ease up. I would take it easy and see if it gets better.
Let us know what the doctor says on Tues.

Re: Sharp, throbbing, shooting pains...
I too had the same shooting pains, they went away after three weeks, it seemed everything settled at the 3-4 weeks at least to what I thought was normal. The pains are scary though and a bit embarassing when I cried out at inappropriate moments.

I had the same problems, my dr said part of it was the positioning during surgery that caused the groin pain! I am at almost 3 weeks now and it is much better. I still get a few twinges of pain but nothing like week 1!

Re: Sharp, throbbing, shooting pains...
Hi, I get those throbbing and shooting pains too. I had them also after my last abdominal surgery. My told me that it was nerve pain. The nerves are trying to regenerate, and the tissues are trying to heal. Apparently it is quite normal after such a surgery. It is a sign that your body is healing,....but I must admit, those pains can be very annoying. Hang in there!

Re: Sharp, throbbing, shooting pains...
Try to take it easy and see if that helps. It is so easy to overdo it and have your muscles protest. I found that using either ice or heating pad seemed to help so maybe that would help the pain. Definitely ask your doc about it. It should get better and hopefully you will feel better.
