I think I had a mini-period at 6 weeks post hysterectomy?

My abdominal hysterectomy was 12-29-14. (kept ovaries and cervix). I had a volleyball sized uterus (due to fibroids) removed. I think I have done well with healing. I returned to work at 4 weeks. 2 days after my 6 week check up, I began spotting. It lasted about 4-5 days. Enough to wear a mini-pad. I Googled and read that there were "some" women who experienced mini periods if they kept their cervix. So, I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? If this happens next month around the same time, I will be pretty sure it is a mini-period. I am 44, with no signs of menopause. Which means, i may have a mini period until I experience menopause.

I have not but have read of others in this forum that has. If any uterine tissue is left behind, no matter how small, I have read you can bleed some. That is probably what is happening. If it continues though, I would pass it by your doctor so he/she knows what is going on.

Hi Ladylife,

I also had a SAH, and I just posted last night. I think it's totally normal, and to be expected by 20-25% of women who have the partial procedure. It's nice to hear someone else's experience.

Hey,
So do you have any part of your uterus left? I had a partial hysterectomy in 2009 and only had 10% left. I still had periods! Sometime really heavy period and my uterus grew back partially. Weird right? Lol. Anyway it can be normal as long as it's not gushing just monitor it for safety.
Hang in there sister!!!!
XOXO

You could have experienced a mini period, it could have been a sign of iver doing things or it could have been something else. Here is an article that may explain a little about Mini Periods After Hysterectomy, but I would still give your doctor a call to be sure of exactly why you were bleeding.
