Help, emotions are all over the place!

Hi Sisters,

I finally got my diagnosis on Thursday. Fibroids, endometriosis, possible adenomyosis, and rectocele.
Doc suspects adhesions from years of endo are causing most of my pelvic pain. Crazy non-stop flooding is due to fibroids. He suggested DaVinci DvH. I set my date for September 2nd.

I was okay with all of this at his office, but now I'm all over the place. I WISH I could say I'm cool about it. On one level I am relieved to put an end to years of pain and uncontrolled bleeding, but on another level, I'm getting more nervous as it all sinks in.
Is this normal?

I've started thinking of all kinds of crazy stuff I should have asked about, and now I have a million and one questions...

I have another appt next week to discuss possible rectocele repair to be done at the same time. I was told this will make my recovery take a little longer, but I figure it's better to do it all at once than have to go back for more surgery later.

Any thoughts on recovery time for both DvH and rectocele repair?

Love to hear from other "Ladies in Waiting" about how you are dealing with nerves, fear, and emotions while you wait.

Right now I am not able to sleep...

Re: Help, emotions are all over the place!

At my 6 weeks post op exam my GYN suggested that I should have the rectocele repair!!!! Why didn't she tell me that before? Why would I go in for another surgery? I was kind of upset. She is an oncologist so maybe she doesn't deal with all that other stuff...but I would say do it all at once. Save yourself the time the expense and the additional recovery time. You will be down anyway. As far as nerves are concerned, I found that if I felt like I had control I wasn't as fearful so I researched and conversed on this forum and prepared. Most of your questions can be answered here. Make a long list for your next visit to the DR. and take someone with you to remember all the answers. Good luck. At least you have the whole summer to enjoy. Cheryl

Re: Help, emotions are all over the place!

I carried a small notebook everywhere I went. I made lists of everything from questions for the Dr to shopping lists & to do lists. It helped me feel like I had control of more of the situation.

I also made lists of everyone who called or visited, so I could write thank you notes during my recovery & packing lists

Praying for peace & a speedy recovery.

Re: Help, emotions are all over the place!

Thank you ladies,
Still can't sleep so I got up and went online again to read.
Thanks to both of you for responding and for the great suggestions and prayers.
Bless you for being online late at night... or early AM as the case may be.
