Spotting-Is this a mini period?

I had a LSH on Nov. 6. A few weeks later it felt like I had a mini period. The dr said it was probably just blood left after surgery, but I had typical ms symptoms. I've been spotting again for over a week and it is too early to be cyclical. I called the nurse and she said to cut back on activity. It hasn't helped. Before surgery I bled 2 out of 4 weeks every month. It feels like I'm right back in that pattern. Has anyone else had this? I kept my cervix.

Spotting-Is this a mini period?

Did you keep your ovaries? I know that you can have mini periods if you kept the cervix and the ovaries.

Spotting-Is this a mini period?

Hi,
I agree, it's a little hard to tell at this point if what you're experiencing is a mini period or just part of your healing process. Everyone is a little different in how long it takes to heal, even with an LSH. Some women take the 6 to 8 weeks to feel good again and some seem to feel good much more quickly.
How are you feeling otherwise and how much are you trying to do? If you still have some discomfort when you're on your feet too long or try to do too much in general you could still have some bleeding that is healing related.
If you don't feel the nurse is right with her assessment call and ask to see your dr. It does sound a little funny for a mini period, but you're pretty far out now to still be bleeding.
Let us know if you get this figured out. I hope you feel better soon.
's, Rita

Spotting-Is this a mini period?

What you are doing is different from what I've done, but I'll tell you what I know from my experience. I had my LSH 10/18, and a few weeks later, long after I had stopped post-op spotting, I started spotting pink, then darker pink to red, then brown. The whole thing lasted maybe two days, and only required pantiliners. I was hoping it was a fluke, but I did the same thing a month later. It's not bad, and is almost comical in comparison to what I had done for so long. It's just frustrating. Unlike you, I'm not bleeding every couple of weeks, just once a month. That's a better pattern than I had before surgery!

If you have your ovaries, your body should go through the same routine as always, minus the bleeding. If your routine was every two weeks, that may be what you are doing. You know how you felt before and how you feel then.

Activity had no effect on my bleeding, but the second month was lighter than the first. Your doctor may be able to cauterize your cervix or even remove it if this becomes a real problem. One sister just had that done a few weeks ago--hopefully she'll chime in.

The only thing I can tell you that might help is just think how much better you are than before surgery. At least in my case, this bleeding is an annoyance, not a life-altering event.

Good luck! And remember, in the grand scheme of things, we aren't too far removed from surgery.
