Need to make a decision!

I was just informed by my doc. that the Depro I have been taking for amost a year does not agree with me. I have a histoof Endo. and cysts. Last year befor the Depro was given to me I had a hyster and laproscopy done. Befor this I had my period 2 months. I have a history of painful cycles as well. The Doc. told me I could try a drug that will put me into a six month menopause or have a hysterectomy. The Depro is no longer an option and I can't take other methods of birth control because of other health problems. I am not married but I have no desire to be pregnant or have kids. I think I want t the hysterectomy. Maybe someone out there can relate to this and get back to me.

I was put into menopause for a few months with Lupron. Was that the drug your doctor mentioned? I did well on it. The menopausal symptoms I had were well worth the trade off for me, however my symptoms returned when I went off it. Even so, I consider it a valuable trial. Many women report doing well on Lupron, (or meds of this type), some women have a negative experience, and some women are unwilling to try it.

Of the women who *have* tried it, I hear more positive stories than negatives - but if you're the one who has a negative experience with it, then it doesn't matter what the others experiences have been. Same goes for the hysterectomy experience; most women do fine, but if you're the one who has complications then *your* case is the only one that matters.

Maybe a 2nd or 3rd opinion would be helpful to you. You might also ask about Mirena to see if you'd be a candidate for that.

It's a big decision. Good luck researching what option is best for *you*.
