has anyone experienced heart related issues after they had a hysterectomy/oopherectomy? I am planning on this surgery 8/30. Just got finished reading a few threads, now I am truely terrified.

Anyone outthere that has been on the otherside and has been perfectly heart healthy?

I haven't had the hysterectomy yet but I've been in chemical menopause for about 6 months. I'm taking Zoladex to shrink my fibroid and haven't had any heart-related problems. I was concerned about gaining weight. I've been eating a healthy low calorie diet and exercising. I've lost 20 pounds since I started the Zoladex.

My mother had a TAH-BSO 36 years ago. She's 87 years old now and still going strong.

Talk with your doctor about your risks and your worries. Most women do well after a hysterectomy. Any problems that you have are likely to be things that can be managed. I hope you'll do as well as my mother.

I had a tah/bso 4 years ago and have had no heart related problems. My sister had hers almost 20 years ago and is still going strong too.

Thank you Jean,

That is exactly what I need to hear right now! This sight is wonderful!! I wish I could find a place where there are positive outcomes of this procedure. For me, this is mostly optional for now. I feel if I wait because of all irregular bleeding and cysts I keep getting, I may not have an option later.

Glad to here that people do thrive after surgery.
