Will my husband be able to tell the difference during sex?
Hello everyone,
I'm new here, and my LAVH will take place in September. They are taking my cervix and uterus. I'm scared to death!!!! For so many reasons! It helps to hear what you all have experienced.
I'm wondering, after the surgery and I have a "green light" for sex, will it feel different for my husband too? I know it seems like a stupid question, but we've always enjoyed a good sex life, and I'm afraid that it won't be as enjoyable afterwards.
Stupid question I know. I just have so many thoughts running through my mind right now.
Thanks for your help.

Will my husband be able to tell the difference during sex?
Hello! to Hyster Sisters! We're glad to have you join us.
This isn't a stupid questions at all--there are no stupid questions. Many, many women have this exact fear.
My husband didn't notice any difference pre-op versus post-op other than that my prolapsing uterus and cervix were no longer in the way. Some women report that they and/or the partner miss the cervix. If it's something you or your husband enjoy then yes, it's possible that you will notice a difference. If you're a candidate to keep your cervix, discuss your preference with your doctor. You should keep as many healthy parts as possible.
Of course there are no guarantees with any surgery so it's important to know the risks and potential side effects and consequences. Those are important aspects to weigh when making the decision to have a hysterectomy. If you have exhausted possible options to having surgery and this is the last resort, you are less likely to have "What if..." and "If only I had tried..." feelings afterward.
Hopefully you and your husband won't notice any difference and you'll continue to enjoy your sex life after your doctor gives the clearance.
I'm sending all best wishes!

Will my husband be able to tell the difference during sex?
Hi! My surgery is scheduled for July 22 and I am having some of the same thoughts. I hope some of the other sisters feel like they can share their experiences in this department. It was not something I felt comfortable discussing with my Dr. at my pre op visit this past Thursday. Like others I am scared to death.... the waiting is not good!!!! I found out last month that this was coming and have had too much time to think about all the what ifs!!!!!!

our sex life after surgery is the same as to before surgery. my husband notices no difference. I was able to keep my cervix. discuss this feeling with your doctor before surgery, and its not a stupid question...I had the same fear...and I am sure many of us here felt the same...hugs

Will my husband be able to tell the difference during sex?
I had my cervix removed and my DH said he doesn't notice it. He did say it feels different but in a good way. He said that it feels tighter, sorry if Everything else functions as it did before. There is no such thing as a stupid question

Will my husband be able to tell the difference during sex?
Oh Shelly---during our initial visit with my doctor I asked (jokingly) if he could take a few extra stitches there for my husband's benefit. He laughed, but my husband turned bright red.........Debbie

My husband didn't notice a difference either. He really likes not having to worry about protection or unintended consequences.
