I realize this is very personal for a message board, but its relevant...
Does anyone retain the ability to lubricate after their hysterectomy?
I am really worried about this. I can live with the menopause and will make it through recovery. But I would like to have some hope of having a normal sex life. If there is no hope, I'd like to know that, too.
I'm afraid to discuss it with my boyfriend because I know he will want to say whatever he thinks I want to hear. And I'm afraid if I get him to admit that it is important to him, I will be more upset. So I haven't brought it up. I assume he's looked this stuff up and will know, though. But I think it is important to him.
At least no more periods.

From what I've heard (I haven't ventured into sex again yet) most women go on to have an even better sex life than before since they no longer have pain. I think you may want to use something at first but after you should hopefully be fine.

I'm glad you ask this question!! I'm waiting for my surgery date I'm 39 engaged and will loss both ovaries and my bf says what I want to hear but I'm very scared. I won't be able totake HRT so I'm scared confused and second guessing my surgery for this reason.

While the cervix does some provide some lubrication, there are also glands in the vagina that do as well. Lubrication is affected more by having your ovaries removed than having your uterus removed. Those glands response to the hormones produced by your ovaries.
From your profile, it looks like you are planning to have both ovaries removed. Thus, lubrication could be an issue for you unless you find the right HRT balance. If HRT is not an option, you will want to discuss possible alternative options.
Talk to your doctor about your concerns so you are both on the page.

Have not had my surgery yet but have used some time a lubricant for more than 20yrs..has never been an issue with my husband. I think you need to just try whatever is going to make the experience more enjoyable.

From what I understand, many women experience a better sex life. I'm not to the point where I can have sex yet but I have noticed that I'm not dry in the nether regions.
My husband and I used the basic KY jelly prior to surgery because it made it less painful. When we resume, I plan on using it. Just seems for comfortable for me. Don't feel embarrassed or concerned. What ever makes YOU more comfortable is what is important.
