Bladder questions pre-op

Hey ladies. I know this could go into the bladder area too, but its kinda pre-op too. So let me know, and if needed it can be moved.

Ok, recently, within the last 4-5 months or so. I go into these week long stretches where I feel like I cant pee. Almost like the muscles don't want to work to make it go. I have to sit there and really make myself think about it. Then I don't completely empty my bladder. It goes for a week or so then goes away for a couple weeks.

So my question is, I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, last year and put on elmiron, and atarax. Both never seemed to help make the peeing go away, but I never had this other problem.

So my surgery is Monday, would there be a reason this is happening? The doc is planning on removing the uterus and cervix, but doing the lap because of prior endo. So If I asked, could he look at the bladder and if something was wrong to fix it? Can they do that? Thanks in advance!

Re: Bladder questions pre-op

Yes there could be a reason and yes if he knows how to fix it he can but not very likely if he is not a urogyn or a urologist. You may want to see a urologist if this continues after surgery. If you have a prolapse before surgery and they fix it that may fix your bladder issue. If not it could be the endo pressing on your bladder that is causing the issue.

Re: Bladder questions pre-op

I would definitely contact the doc about this. They can look around while they are in there and discuss possible fixes before you go into surgery instead of either having to have your family make a decision or go for a different surgery.
