Okay, so what this is telling us is that the biopsy did *not* find any signs of hyperplasia or endometrial cancer, both of which can cause abnormal bleeding. If the biopsy had found pre-cancerous (hyperplasic) or cancerous cells, your doctor should have told you so.

This is important because *if* you had hyperplasia or cancer, this would argue for removing the ovaries. Estrogen feeds endometrial cancer, so you'd want to decrease the flow of estrogen.

This appears to be something you *don't* have to worry about. :-)

Re: questions

I was having 10 day periods, heavy with clumps, had to wear two overnight pads at once, spotting between periods, lots of excuses to tell husband not tonight. The periods were every 28 days though.

Was sent in for ultrasound, and then doctor discovered by chance complex ovarian cyst.

Had surgery last month - salpingo-oophorectomy of right ovary and tube, and they also went in and removed a cluster of uterine polyps in the uterous.

Now I feel great, 4 day normal periods returned, not gushing periods lasting weeks.

Pathology report came back that ovarian cyst was borderline serous, no stage assigned, no staging done. Met with gyn oncologist last week, told me he recommended no more surgery, although insurance would cover up to a full hysterectomy if wanted. He did not think would be preventative, is major surgery and would "age" me. Too many people are getting "preventative" hysterectomies and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomies he thought, all for the 1 in a million chance of ovarian cancer.

My gyn suggest "get everything out" so wow, opposite doctor opinions.

Picking up my original file with original slides from pathology records today, going for a 3rd opinion next week at Stanford Med - gyn/onc there.

Get more opinions, then go with your instincts. My SIL did just a partial hysterectomy for fibroids, leaving the cervix, and she was happy with results.
