Help is it just me will I ever be able to feel normal again

Hi ladies quick question and sorry if this is kinda tmi for u all. I have never had a real strong sex drive but it would get better if we would u know start with the action. But I am three weeks out yesterday and I have no desire at all. I mean at this point if I never had sex again I would totally be okay with this. I am kinda scared b/c I do not want that b/c even though I have the best husband in the world he is still a guy and I can not use this as an excuse for ever. I am on an antidepressant but it is the Welbutrin XL so it have very low reaction towards the sex drive. But now I am just worried b/c I am so swollen and at times I still feel swollen down below and I have been fighting this UTI which has gone into a full blown kidney infection for two weeks and I just feel tired all the time. I am able to do things better now like today I did dust and dishes and laundry and I did sweep (I know I am not suppose to but I had to bc kids made a huge mess all over the floor and my 2 yo can not sweep for me yet).
I hat feeling this way I don't feel normal and I feel that I to put up a front for everyone b/c family and friends say b/c I did not get cut and b/c I can move and drive now I should be back to normal and it makes me want to cry but I cant do that either. I am not sleeping I normally stay awake until after 3ish and then get back up by 7ish.
Sorry I am rambling on I am sitting here needing to do homework (full time student) and I just don't have the drive to do that anymore. I am afraid my grades will start to drop if I dont get better. I do have another dr apt tomorrow b/c of the kidney infection and started to run a temp again today. So I am going to talk to him about how I am feeling.
Anyone else share some of there wo is me stories b/c if I am the only one I think I will just go hide in a cave somewhere.
Oh and I did keep my ovaries

Hugs

Re: Help is it just me will I ever be able to feel normal again

Of course you will feel normal again - You are only three weeks out of surgery. It doesn't matter if you weren't "cut," you still had an organ removed from your body. Even if you keep your ovaries, they can and do shut down for a while. You need to do your best to get enough rest - let the mess sit for a while. I didn't feel better until the fifth week, and I am just now recovering my energy level, and it was twelve weeks this week. I don't have little children anymore, but I work full time and attend school full time as well, so I can relate. Try to get enough rest, and maybe you can get some help with your children?

Insomnia is very common in the recovery time - my doctor recommended melatonin - it is over the counter and natural. Three weeks is definitely too early to have regained your sex drive - as you heal and recover, that may help your drive. If not, tell the doctor - they can help you with that also. Be patient with yourself, get a note for your instructors so your work load can be managed, and let yourself heal and recover.

Re: Help is it just me will I ever be able to feel normal again

Camymills
We are almost at the same recovery point (My SAH was the 17th, kept my ovaries too) and although I was cut I do feel the same way- NO interest, can't even imagine sex right now. I am reading a lot of posts about women thinking about it, worring about it and even going ahead with it and I wonder if I'm the weird one!!! I think everyone is different and don't beat yourself up about the way you feel- I think we are both still normal.
I am still struggling with the insomnia too but I am finding that no naps in the afternoon (no matter how much I want one!) has helped some. I feel like I am getting a more "normal" nights sleep at least.
Do what you can when you feel good, rest and pamper when you don't and don't let others tell you what you should or shouldn't be feeling or doing!
Sorry to hear about the kidney infection- that may be contributing to your overall recovery and feeling back to yourself.
Hope all goes well at the dr's. and you start feeling better soon. I am here for you if you need an ear!
Hugs to you!

Re: Help is it just me will I ever be able to feel normal again

I think it is so normal not to feel "normal" yet. I felt like that too. I had my TAH on March 5 and last week - i started doing a little more than i have been. And dont worry about that housework - you focus on you! You did the right thing by just getting on here and venting - i feel thats why this site is here - we are all going through this. Sure you can talk to your husband friends and family - but we are all going through the same things at some point and time. Just remeber what they say you onnly have one time to heal correctly. You need to take care of yourself. BIG HUGS - soft ones of course. Just keep your head up we are here for you

Re: Help is it just me will I ever be able to feel normal again

Hay ladies I just wanted to say thanks. I will bring this to dr tomorrow. I have also noticed and for lack of better way of explaining it my vajajay seems to be hurting and at times feels like it is swollen and like it is kinda hanging sorry if so gross. I just want to be normal my dr did this quickly b/c we have a Disney trip scheduled for the end of May and he wanted me to have a full 10 weeks of recovery. Something funny happened this afternoon. I was sitting outside and started feeling pulling in my tummy. I stood up and felt around and my tummy was so hard and big. It did go down finally.
