yeast infection?

This may be a silly question, but I think I have a yeast infection (I seem to have the symptoms) but wondered if it's safe to use an over -the counter vaginal medication?! I am 5 years (!) post op and just want to make sure it's ok! Thanks!

Re: yeast infection?

I'd call you doctor's office and ask - if you don't normally have YI then you shouldn't be self medicating. They can be a symptom of type 2 diabetes, among other things.

Re: yeast infection?

I got a yeast infection 5 months post op (first one in about 10 to 15 yrs). I cld my doc & he sd it was okay to treat vaginally but to make sure to use the 7 day treatment because it does not burn as badly as 3 day treatment. It still did! I would call your doc just to make sure.

Re: yeast infection?

If you are sure that you have a yeast, give it a shot with the OTC meds, as long as you dont have any serious medical condition, but if you see no improvements, then go to your DR.
