Re: Help so many issues since my hysterectomy surgery!!!

you mentioned getting another opinion - that is the first thing that came to my mind while reading your nightmare. I would definitely seek another opinion. Something just does not seem right. If he said you are a major bleeder than I would think he would take all this bleeding more seriously.

Re: Help so many issues since my hysterectomy surgery!!!

I was sleeping beauty for the first 4 weeks so don't feel bad in that respect. I didn't feel like myself until week 5 1/2.

Re: Help so many issues since my hysterectomy surgery!!!

I am so sorry to read you are having to go through all this, problems like constipation, painful urination and a variety of thing occur to most of women, to the extent that they aren't related to any complication they are a part of the slow and painful recovery process of hysterectomy. Again, extremely sad to hear about what you are having to go throw all this, I will be praying and wishing for you. If your problem regarding the hematoma is persisting and you are still not feeling better do definitely get a second opinion, even a third if necessary. I know this is easier said then done, but be brave. I hope you will get good medical assistance soon. Try searching the internet for good hospitals or doctors in your area and contact your friends/family. Keep us posted.

Re: Help so many issues since my hysterectomy surgery!!!

I had a post op hematoma and ended up being re opened 2 days after my hysterectomy. Apparently I didn't bleed at all during my surgery, so it was hard to figure out which vessels needed to be sutured or cauterized. I then ended up with an abscess a couple weeks later. Keep going to emergency. Stress the blood loss and inability to get up on your own, as well as limited wakefulness. I had to go to the ER 3 times before I was treated for the abscess. But if the hematoma isn't growing and you are still bleeding, go and refuse to leave until they can tell you where all the blood is coming from and how they are going to make it stop. Also, bring someone with you. The first time I went, I was on my own and so tired and out of it, I couldn't get my concerns across.

Re: Help so many issues since my hysterectomy surgery!!!

I feel so bad to hear what all of you are going through. I am 4 weeks post TAH and for the most part other than being tired a lot of being sore when I use muscles I havent used in a while. I spotted the second day I was at the hospital and 1 little time when I can home and never saw blood again. MY tummy is swollen and my bowel movements arent as normal as they were before the surgery but they are still fairly regular. I do still get a lot of bloating and gas but I dont drink water barely ever so that might be a factor.

Re: Help so many issues since my hysterectomy surgery!!!

Awe thank you all so much!!! Im not sure where I last left off but today makes 32 days and today makes a week home from hospital I decided to go somewhere else than the original dr and hospital I was seeing due to I felt something was seriously wrong to find out that the hematoma I had wasn't gone it was originally the size of a large grapefruit and supposed had been drained all the way well when I got to new hospital it had grown and was now the size of a large baseball they drained it this time with no pain at all and admitted me for about a week left the hose in and kept me comfy with no pain during my stay drained it all I believe it maybe resolved this time I go for my follow up this week w my new obgyn and really feeling better about this whole thing walking a little like room to room for a few days now.
When I left first hospital I was complaining of not being able to urinate: that's normal I was told
I complained of abdominal area swelling getting bigger: that's normal I was told
I complained of lots of things that where just NORMAL went to another hospital about 30 mins away cause I needed to pee so bad and tried everything to go from different positions on toilet to standing over toilet laying in tub with warm water whatever you think I did it when I got to hospital found out a normal bladder holds 3-400 ml of urine is capable of holding double that well evidently mine can hold triple my abdominal area was so big they took me straight back did bladder ultra sound to see I had 1900ml urine that original hospital didn't see or care to see before I left passed 2200 ml they couldn't believe it they sent me home w a cath and to follow up w primary that's when they did the first hematoma which they used no meds to do this just needle straight though stomach with hosing to drain I was screaming it was awful!!!! was admitted due to monitoring of pain rate.....think dr at that point realized something was wrong now this dr is calling me constantly from his personal phone wondering why I haven't showed for my 6 week check up well its only been 4 weeks and I've already got another dr and been in a new hospital for over a week ....AND THEY DON'T KNOW THIS?? everything is computerized now w my social he should know where I've been and when I really feel I was mistreated neglected in a major way and I think there is more to all this than I know I don't know who to contact as in attorneys lawyers to prevent this from happening to anyone else I was left hours at a time with no contact w nurses etc health care providers where no where to found in hospital "A" they didn't seem to care about anything I said and I didn't even know I lost 4 units of blood till I was receiving it nothing was ever discussed with me was sent home with no directions for wound care I have pictures of everything its awful really 32 days and can barely walk still bruising has basically healed I was black never bruised in my life or been a bleeder as the dr said I was and had several surgeries before. who do I contact to see if I have a case this hospital something has to be done not just for me but all those people I could hear people yelling down the halls for help and of course no one was coming I had to call my mother and hubby to come to find the staff sitting at desk on phones or outside etc did file a grievance but I don't feel as this has resolved this issue. Also spoke w a few of the OR nurses that said this Dr has no business in the OR and are will to speak for me Sorry rambling upset and very emotional still over the differences in the first and last hospitals last hospital treated me as I was there sister mother daughter loved one I was no different than there own as a patient should be treated never a thought of anything If I said I felt odd they spoke to dr asap and it was care for !!! I have also made a report to that hospital about those nurses and doctors on what great care they have and what it meant to me and my family so its not like i'm trying to attack anyone I just know this first hospital someone needs to say something and speak up for these people being unmediated for their pain or forgotten about or not even remembering why the patient is in there it was CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!

SORRY SO LONG!! <3 THANKS AGAIN <3 <3
